昨天在騎機車往返南投及台中的途中
突然想起了Marco
想分享他的故事
我在紐西蘭的基督城遇見他
當時我在一間叫 Vagabond 的 Hostel 換宿
每天都遇見不同的人
Marco, 一位年輕的德國人
來到紐西蘭後才接觸賭博
有次在Auckland的賭場喝得爛醉被趕出並不得在一定期間內到國內任何賭場
要是被保全認出也會被即刻趕出
他到了基督城後, 本來只敢在電腦上玩賭博遊戲
但後來還是決定闖一次賭場, 說不定不會被認出
便到了賭場試了幾天手氣, 有時還會熬夜賭一整晚
有天他開心的回來告訴我他贏了好多錢
從口袋中拿出一大疊紙鈔, 毫不避諱的數錢了起來
印象中贏了台幣好幾萬
對著沒工作也沒什麼錢的我
說明天要請我在賭場吃一餐
隔天我們一起到了賭場
看著他玩籌碼
一直叫我試試
我直搖頭, 看他玩就好了
印象中我享用了美味漢堡和一杯很貴的長島冰茶 :)
看著他, 那時我總想起去紐西蘭前看過的電影
"My Blueberry Nights 我的藍莓夜" 裡的賭徒
看著他越陷越深, 別人也無法救得了他的感覺
我們沒有留下聯絡方式
有點好奇, 後來的他, 是否還沉醉於賭博呢?

I thought of "Marco" yesterday, and wanna share the story about him.
I met him in Christchurch, New Zealand.
I was working for accommodation at Vagabond hostel.
Everyday I met new people.
Marco, a young German.
He started gambling in NZ.
He was kicked out by security at Auckland casino because he was too drunk.
And he couldn't get in any casino in NZ.
He will be kicked out again if he was recognized by security.
After arriving Christchurch, he went to casino.
Sometimes he stayed up for whole night.
One day, he was so happy and told me that he won a lot of money.
And he started counting money in front of me.
I was poor and with no job.
He said I'll treat you a meal when we go to casino tomorrow.
The next day, we really went to casino.
I watched him playing games.
He asked me if I wanna try?
I just said no.
I enjoyed a yummy burger and an expensive long island ice tea. ;)
He reminds me the character in the movie - My blueberry nights.
He was addicted to gambling like no one can save him.
We didn't leave any contact details to each other.
I'm kind of curious....if he still like gambling?!
